Safer Migration Project (SaMI)

Indreni Rural Development Centre Nepal has been implementing SaMi project in Kapilvastu district. This project is co-funded by government of Nepal (GoN) and Government of Switzerland and technical support provided by Helvetas Nepal. The overall goal of the project is to safer and more beneficial migration for women and men who opt to go for migration. The safer Migration (SaMi) project has been implementing in four municipalities (Kapilvastu Municipality, Banganaga Municipality, Shivaraj Municipality and Mayadevi Rural Municipality) of Kapilvastu from Paush 2076 to Aashadh 2078.. The project provides potential migrants workers with relevant information, training and services to help them make informed choices, legal support and avoid exploitation. In addition to these the project also providing to migrant’s families psychosocial support to cope with emotional stress and facilitates best use of the financial resource (remittance) received from abroad/migrants. To provide necessary information and service Migration Resource Center (MRC) has been established in district administration office’s premises with close coordination and collaboration with MRC municipality- Kapilvastu Municipality and DAO.
